The strongest comparison is usually the one you can explain in plain language. If you cannot describe why a path remains flexible, treat that path as speculative.

Two hands may each contain a pair and a connected sequence, yet one may have several ways to improve while the other depends on a single narrow draw. Comparing flexibility helps explain why similar-looking hands deserve different decisions.
Count the realistic paths from the current arrangement. A card is flexible when it can join more than one credible group or when moving it does not destroy a confirmed structure. A card is narrow when only one exact rank or suit would help. Do not count every theoretical combination; include only patterns allowed by the rules and compatible with the cards already held.
Then examine the cost of changing direction. A flexible hand can adapt when a needed card is discarded, while a rigid hand may need to keep waiting. However, flexibility is not always better near the end of a round. If a hand has one clear, valid route and low deadwood, committing can be wiser than preserving options that are unlikely to mature in time.
Use a quick comparison table during practice: confirmed groups, speculative groups, isolated high cards, and number of credible improvements. This is not a precise probability model. It is a way to expose the assumptions behind a choice. Update it when new public information appears instead of relying on the opening arrangement.
Choose the hand structure that fits the timing and scoring context. Avoid claiming that flexibility guarantees success, and never use a strategic review as a reason to exceed a personal spending limit. Good comparison makes uncertainty clearer; it does not remove it.

Near the end, it may simply mean preserving a valid declaration while avoiding one high-value leftover. Describe the type of flexibility you need before choosing.
